A "companion" (also called a pet) is a creature that your character has captured or sometimes created. Characters in Solaris RPG can only have a companion from NPC/Creature races in Solaris RPG. Characters can also only have one active companion at a time, no exceptions and once you lose your first companion you probably won't be able to get another one. At most your character can only get two companions in all, after you lose both of them you will never get another one.
How do I get a companion?
To get a companion, your character must catch one by during gameplay or somehow create one through an approved role play session. Usually an NPC would be played by a staff member, the decision as to whether or not you would be fighting to catch the creature as a pet should already be decided. You can run into an NPC other times and try to catch it for a pet, but this is usually a much harder battle.
Requirements for a Companion:
Your character must catch the creature on his or her own.
The companion you catch cannot have more than three quarters of your characters own power level.
What can a companion do for me?
Basically, a companion is used for an extra touch to your characters role playing, and that's really all it should be used for. Your character may use them in a battle to help in a fight, whether it be your own fight or another fight. When you have your pet help someone else in a fight it is called an assist. By assisting another character in a battle you do not recieve any points and neither does your pet. They do not recieve any extra points for a kill on their part and their power grows only when a special occurance occurs by the choice of an Admin.
What happens if my companion dies?
If someone kills your companion it is gone unless you can manage to get a cleric to revive it. Your character may not kill, absorb, fuse, (etc...) with your pet or anyone elses pet/companion. Never ask to fuse, absorb, or even kill your own characters pet even if its on another of your own characters, any request on this matter will simply be ignored.
