The Deco’Carr resemble large arachnids, with the exception of their extra set of legs. Its body ranges from five inches to just over one foot in diameter (that’s with out counting their legs). Their legs are about the same length of their core body’s diameter and ranging from half an inch to a full inch in diameter. When they are young theirs bodies are virtually clear in color and there exoskeletons are very soft but as they age their bodies turn to a coal black and their exoskeletons harden to the strength of cie. They are divided into three major sections their cephalothorax, legs, and abdomen. The cephalothorax is the fount half of their core body. Their eight eyes, fangs, and maw are located in the front of this section and their brain, stomach, poison gland, and acid gland are located internally in this section. Their eight legs extend four from each sides of their cephalothorax. Their legs have five articulating points of movement, the femur (long first part), patella (short second part), tibia (long third part), metatarsus (medium sized forth part), tarsus (short claw at the end of each leg), giving their legs great flexibility. The tarsus of each leg has a dagger like quality they use for climbing and hunting. The abdomen is the rear half of their core body. Their anus and spinneret are located at the rear of this section. Their heart, intestines, sex organs, and lungs are located internally in this section.
The Deco’Carr mate only once in their ten years of life and once a male is chosen by a female, the male will defend the female with its life. The male and female share a mental link that allows them to communicate with one another from great distances. This is how they are believed to pick their mate. But if either the male or female is killed the other one will become crazed and attack anything until it is destroyed. The male Deco’Carr impregnates the female Deco’Carr. The male then hunts for and protects the female while the female guards the eggs. The eggs are connected to the under side of her abdomen. The female must feed upon the male, give their offspring extra nutrition, before they will hatch. Once they hatch the will feed upon their mother killing her. There can be any where from ten to fifty offspring. Deco’Carr do make good pets, but the only way to gain one as a pet is to form a mental link with a male. Once this unnatural link is formed all the habits and known actions of this race changes to match its master’s will. Deco'Carr can generally be found in dark, damp places, such as the deeper parts of the Osperian Forest and the jungles in and around Xhan Tarn. They are not picky about what they eat, as long as they can catch it. They aren't mindless hunters by any means, but they have no concept of pack hunting. Mated pairs will hunt together, but more often than not they merely get in each other's way. The male Deco’Carr uses the “stealth” ability to sneak up on it victims and attacks them in one of two ways. The first is by dropping down on them and wrapping its legs around them. The Deco’Carr then tries to bite them with its fangs injecting a paralyzing poison into them. The second is by keeping its distance it will spit its acid at them to wound them and spray its web onto there limbs and connecting the other end of the web to a tree. Once it catches two or more limbs, it constricts the webs forming a kind of rack. Once they are firmly bound, it will crawl up to the victim and inject its paralyzing poison. In either case, it ends up putting the victim in a cocoon to feed on later or give to its mate. The female Deco’Carr is known to create large webs or a burrow with a cover top and let her pray come to her. She uses the distance attack like the male to subdue her victims. |
