Gratha Birds are a seemingly-intelligent creature, able to mimic sounds and vocalizations it hears, much like a very over-sized parrot . Standing about six feet tall weighting over a hundred pounds, with a seventeen-foot wingspan, the bird can stay aloft for extremely long periods of time. The bird usually has yellow tail feathers while the rest of the body is white. The bird can occasionally learn to understand human languages, and is mildly telepathic. They are omnivores and enjoy making a meal of any kepp they come across. Their feathers, tears, and blood are rumored to have healing powers, but this is unconfirmed.

Gratha Birds are not an aggressive creature by any means. It will fight to protect its nest and feast on kepp, but will commonly just fly away in any other case. Gratha Birds are at their strongest in flight using quick swooping attacks at it's opponents slashing with their talons, or regurgitating the acid like liquid from their stomach letting if fall on top of it opponents. If a Gratha Bird is wounded and forced to fight on the ground it will snap at its opponents with it's beak.

Gratha Birds lives high in the mountains near the Xhan Tarn Beach and other mountains ranges across Solaris. Though they are seen about any where flying from one mountain range to another. Or stopping to feast on an over-growth of kepp.

The Gratha Bird makes a great pet. They can be trained as a flying mount for warriors, or to scout ahead for dangerous situations. While Gratha Birds generally mimic sounds they hear, they can often learn which sounds have which meanings, much like dogs taking orders from their masters. Solarians are fond of saying that the Gratha Bird is second only to the phoenix in avian beauty.

Gratha Birds have a limited social structure. The male and a female stay together most of the time other than when the female goes off to find food for the young. They raise the young for a full year before the young leaves the nest.

Gratha Birds reproduce by a male courting a female. Once the courtship takes place that male and female will be together until they die. They will build a nest and have some where between three to five eggs every other year.
