Cie is actually a type of metal that only exists deep within the bowels of Solaris. During the peak of industry and technology that occured between the Great Wars and the fall of Solaris City at the will of the Great Flux, this metal will be relatively common in the Eastern Solaris area; however, without the proper equipment, it is difficult to excavate, though manageable to manipulate. After The Undoing occurred the citizens of Solaris were sent many years into the passed, back even before Cie had originally been discovered. Since the warriors knew about the precious metal because they were from the future, it is still used in this new ancient time but not nearly as much as very few warriors are capable of excavating it.
Under normal circumstances, cie is not only the strongest of metals, but even one of the most stable of materials. However, under the right pressure, mixed with the right reagents and with the aid of the BTMs, the metal can become the most reactive and volatile substance in all of time and space. Properly contained, a cie nuclear reaction has a power output that cannot be measured. The great floating cities used giant reactors in order to power their flight and military capabilities, though 98% of the volume of these reactors is taken up by safety precautions and measures for containment. Androids created with technology beyond all comprehension have been known to contain miniaturized versions of such reactors so they are capable of creating cie energy themselves. Throughout the normal Solaris timeline, such technology has never been possible, so while these androids have been rumored to come from the future, even such a claim is too simplistic to be true. Cie energy visibly appears very similarly to plasma energy as a bland collection of earthy browns and tans with a touch of bronze. Since this energy is impossible to be created by a person and instead a machine, many find it difficult to call it one of the energies at all, even specifically noted as a tier above the normal energies. However, as a powerful force allowed to exist solely due to the help of the BTMs, it fits the prerequisite of being a feared and respected energy. |
