The origins of the Dragonkin are shrouded in mystery, and the dragons themselves are tight lipped about the process through which they are created. Some say the dragonkin were created so that dragons could live their lives in the company of lesser races, either learning from them or preparing for a greater assault. Others say that the dragon’s inherent curiosity led to them desiring to lead the lives of other races. Still more claim that the Dragons did it to escape the effects the ebb and flow of magic have on them. Whatever reasons drove the dragons to forsake their serpentine forms, Dragonkin are the result, and thought they still retain much of their draconian heritage, they are very much a new, unique, and different race.
Dragonkin are created when a Dragon immolates itself on a majestic funeral pyre, sacrificing its powerful form. As the body is burnt, the essence of the dragon, its soul and spirit, are transferred to a waiting “host” body- usually a recently deceased humanoid. However, it is believed that in extremely rare cases, some of the eldest Dragons are capable of taking on the form of the Dragonkin through means of shapeshifting. Outwardly, Dragonkin resemble the race of the body they inhabit- but all dragonkin share the slitted pupils common to regular dragons. They also still carry much of the charisma and temperament of dragons. They share with their draconian cousins the greed, curiosity, territorial-ism, and wisdom of Dragons. This can make them dangerous foes when provoked. The dragon’s most formidable weapons, his brute strength, thick hide, and breath weapon are lost in the transition of bodies, though Dragonkin possess a few advantages that even their cousins don’t share. For one thing, Dragonkin are very nimble fighters, their strength and agility make them excellent physical combatants. Their charisma also makes them excellent leaders, should they be able to hide their true nature, or lead a people who do not fear or hate them. One of the most easily observed aspects of a dragonkin is his battle aura- an image of the dragon’s original body (albeit a good deal smaller) hazily imposed over the being’s current body. These unusual auras tend to stand several feet taller than their host body, and have a much greater reach with their limbs and tail than the host body they envelop. |

Racial Ability 1:Spirit of the Dragon - A Dragonkin gains a bonus 10% physical damage reduction. (Passive Ability) Racial Ability 2:Lost, but not Forgotten - A dragonkin gains a bonus 50% to his elemental damage reduction against his favored element only. (Passive Ability) Racial Ability 3:Metaphysical Blows - Once per battle, a dragonkin may make an unarmed attack that reduces an opponent’s damage reduction values by 10% and his Hit and Dodge SVS by 25% for five rounds.
